We aim to give an honest description pointing out any obvious flaws.  There are lots of images which you can ZOOM and below a 'Condition guideline' to help you. 

• EXCELLENT : Very little wear and no obvious flaws.
• VERY GOOD : May have minor/light wear/imperfections commensurate with age often only detectable using a jewellers loupe.  
  
• GOOD : Some age wear or imperfections.  May be seen with the naked eye but does not especially detract from the beauty or impair the structure. 
  
• NEW : This is a brand new item not owned by anyone else and in new condition.

Please remember that Antique and Vintage items sometimes have signs of wear commensurate with age.... It's part of their charm!

How long does my order take to process?
We aim to pack and ship your order within 1/2 business days. 

How is my order shipped? 
UK orders are shipped by Royal Mail Special Delivery guaranteed next day, tracked and insured and will need signing for. 
International orders ship either by Royal Mail or DHL depending on the order value.  Orders are tracked and insured and will need signing for.
Occasionally there are delays with customs, the shipper, the weather etc which are out of our control.
We are a UK business, so buyers outside the UK please be aware that you may be liable for Duty and/or Taxes on your purchase. 

Can the ring be resized?
Most rings can be resized! The exception is gemstone/diamond set full eternity rings.

Most high street jewellery shops do resizing and you can get a perfect fit by going in person. If you prefer this option we are happy to offer advice as to whether a ring may be altered to your size.  Resized rings cannot be returned.

Does the ring/jewellery come in a box?
All of our jewellery comes with a new presentation box. Wherever possible we use environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging and pack with care so your item arrives in perfect condition.

Is your jewellery certificated?
In the UK most antique & vintage diamond rings & jewellery do not come with certificates or appraisals. I have 30 years experience selling jewellery and all our items are cleaned, checked and tested by jewellery specialists and gemologists.  Some pieces are appraised by a registered independent National Association of Jewellers Appraiser & Valuer and this will be clearly stated on the listing  : Certificated Rings

Is your jewellery guaranteed?
Due to the age and nature of antique pieces our jewellery doesn't come with a guarantee, however, we check and test everything carefully and only sell items in good wearable condition that we would be happy to own ourselves. 

Do you have a store or showroom?
Sadly, no.  We are online only which keep our overheads low and our prices very competitive.  

Do you accept returns?
Yes, we accept returns.  Keep the tag on the ring and contact us within 7 days of receiving the item so we can give you the returns address. You have 14 days from receipt to send it back.  We do not accept returns for items which have been resized or altered by our jeweller or yours. The return shipping is paid by the buyer and is not refundable.

Please note, any order cancelled before shipping will be refunded minus the transaction fee charged to VJB by payment provider who processed the order. 

What is the condition of the item?
All our jewellery has been pre owned so it will show some signs of wear.  We are always careful to describe items as accurately and honestly as possible and provide detailed close up images. We never sell anything that has been extensively restored or altered or isn't in good wearable condition. See our  Buying Guide

Where do you buy your jewellery?
All our unique jewellery is carefully chosen by hand and is sourced from auctions, antique fairs, private sellers and trade contacts all over the UK.

Shipping Rates, Delivery times & Customs

We handle shipping, customs, and paperwork differently depending on your location to ensure your items arrive safely, legally, and as quickly as possible. 

• Orders Under £100
  UK:  Free Royal Mail Tracked & Signed delivery (24–48 hours).
  Outside UK:  £15.00 flat rate per order via Royal Mail Tracked & Signed (5–10 days).
  
  
• Orders Over £100 
  Free worldwide shipping via Royal Mail or DHL (assigned at our discretion).
  PO Boxes:  Please note we cannot ship to PO Boxes outside the UK.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom Orders
Service:  Shipped via Royal Mail 24–48hr Tracked or Special Next Business Day delivery (assigned at our discretion).

🇺🇸 US Orders (Delivered Duty Paid - DDP)

Duty & Taxes:

• Antique Items (100+ Years Old): Qualify for duty-free entry into the USA. No extra duties or taxes will be added.
• Vintage & Modern Items (Under 100 Years Old): Any applicable duties and taxes are calculated and collected directly at checkout. The price you see is exactly what you pay. No surprise fees on delivery. 

Service & Estimated Delivery Times:

Shipped Royal Mail or DHL (assigned at our descretion)
Royal Mail: 7–10 business days.
DHL: 3–5 business days (Express service used at our discretion on selected higher-value items).

🌐 International Orders (Outside the UK & USA - DAP / DDU)

• Duties & Taxes Unpaid:  We do not collect international import fees at checkout for countries outside the UK and US. Your order is shipped Delivered At Place (DAP) meaning any local duties and taxes are your responsibility.
• Delivery & Payment: If import fees are due, DHL will contact you via phone, text, or email to collect payment on behalf of your local border control authorities before delivery.
  
• Gift Policy: Please note that marking an item as a "Gift" on customs forms does not exempt the package from local import charges.

Service & Estimated Delivery Times:

Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 14–21 business days via Royal Mail, or 5–10 business days via DHL.
Japan:  7–21 business days via Royal Mail, or 3–8 business days via DHL.

Returns & Refunds Policy

We want you to love your purchase. If you decide an item isn’t right for you, we are happy to offer a full refund for any reason within our 14-day return window.

How to Start a Return

• Timeframe: You have 14 days from the date you receive your item to ship it back to us.
• Step 1: Contact us via email to request our secure returns address.
• Step 2: Package your item carefully and send us your return tracking number. We strongly recommend using a tracked, insured shipping service.

Return Conditions

Please ensure your return meets all of the following criteria, as we cannot accept returns that do not comply:

1. Inventory Tag: The inventory tag must remain attached to the item. We will not accept returns if this tag is missing or removed.
2. Original Condition: The item must be unaltered. We cannot accept returns if a ring has been resized or altered by an outside jeweller.
3. Packaging: The item must be returned in its original presentation box and packed securely for transit.
4. Custom Orders: Items that have been resized by our own jeweller prior to shipping are considered custom orders and are strictly non-returnable.

Shipping & Fee Deductions

• Shipping Costs: Original shipping fees from Vintage Jewel Box and your return shipping costs are non-refundable.
• Cancellations Before Shipping: If you cancel an order before it ships, your refund will be issued minus the non-refundable transaction fee charged to us by the payment processor.
• Refused or Unpaid Overseas Deliveries: If an international shipment is returned because it was refused, not accepted, or the customs duties went unpaid, all transaction fees, return shipping costs, and UK import charges will be deducted from your final refund.

BUYERS are responsible for paying any tariffs, customs duties, taxes and fees etc.

USA: All orders are shipped DDP (Delivery duty paid)  Antiques (over 100yrs old) are now exempt from duty. Vintage & modern items the customs duty and tariffs are calculated and added at checkout so your order can be shipped and delivered duty paid.
INTERNATIONAL: Outside the UK or USA, please note we do not collect duty and taxes at checkout so your order is shipped DAP/DDU, duty and taxes unpaid. 

If you have any duty or taxes to pay DHL will contact you by call/text or email to take payment on behalf of Border Control authorities.
Please note that marking the item as 'Gift' does not exempt you from paying any due charges.
